So all that playing around got you what 190 RWBHP ??????

Considering that it started with less than 150 RWHP....

I would say that the "all knowing" plant engineers who design these castrated engines are actually working with both of their hands tied behind their backs by federal emissions regulations, so you are not getting their best. Why would Jeep take the excellent 4.0l and replace it with the limp wrist-ed 3.8l? The sad fact is that the federal regulators broadly apply the emissions standard to the entire product line for a given manufacturer and not to specific models which results in one or two products that are really impressive right out the door while the rest are lame ducks. The individual car emissions testing parameters are actually set by the EPA in the US and in some cases the State EPA and not the federal regulators who are concerned only with the broad board. Which explains why you can not get certain products in some states, like my Kawasaki, which is not available in California. These two requirements are not exactly connected to each other. If I was truly concerned with engine life then I sure would not be driving it in the sand, the heat, and etc.... Being CMR Qualified does not mean you are a Bill Mitchell, it refers to being properly trained and experienced to properly tune the ECU to maximize performance without sacrificing the engine. And in my lame opine, every modified engine needs to be tuned to ensure that the modifications do not cause more harm then good, hence why I outlined my engine specific modifications.

That would be called algebra. Its taught in Elementary (Primary) School...but one would have had to go to school first...so don't look at me...

But what is your RWHP? Engine HP is one thing but RWHP is where its gonna count...your probably looking about ~210 or so... never said my motor was slick...I love that Toyota 4.0....

One question... does not all this playing with the ECU void the warranty?

Eric and Wasif, I think both your cars are new and within warranty. Is this a compromise one has to live with or is there a way around it?

And by the way, anyone heard of ECU tuning for the Pajero? I have not seen any serious offroad modification workshop or person for modifying the Pajero (youj know the story of my rear bumper), just wondering loud if there is someone for Pajero ECU...

Hey Eric,

dont quote me on in being an MBRP cat-back exhaust system. It came with the car when i bought it from the showroom with the TORNADO-2 kit. I like it, (performance wise i dont know what it did in difference) but i would actually like a little bit more of a grunt to the exhaust system. ive been thinking to change over to a gibson dual exhaust cat back system. What do u think?

Mohannad - From what I can tell Diablo Sport does not make a tuner for you TJ. I am not sure about the others. To be honest I would not do anything else to your TJ as it performs really well right now and your motor is a heck of a lot stronger than the JK's. :) The best things one can do for an engine is to make it breathe better and reduce heat.

Gulzar - Warranty? What is that? :smiley2: Every time I have had a part replaced due to failure WM has done a great job of avoiding the warranty for this or that reason. Only once have I gotten warranty coverage on a part and that was only an excuse by them to try and appease me after they pushed me to file a false accident report with the police so that my insurance would replace a 7500 AED part that did not need replacing. They got a piece of my mind for that one. :smiley7:

But to answer your question - yes, they will know if you have programmed the ECU and yes they will cry about it, although from what I have seen WM doesn't really care as I have never removed mine. Not sure about the others. The programmers will and do advise you to reset the programming to the original prior to any service visit in order to prevent any issues from arising. It is a built in feature of these programmers to download and save your original programming just for that purpose. The programmer will then become "locked" to you car and your car only to ensure that your orginal program never gets lost. :smiley10:

You can google ECU Tuning for you car to see if anyone does. Unichip might but then I don't know as I do not have a Pajero :smiley3:
