Hi Jon,
if i were you, i would save that money till i can afford a winch
winch comes handy in many situations such as sand, mud or even rock
however, in my opinion .. the only one situation where you will need the plate tracks is when you need to cover the gaps on your track if any
but if you stuck on the sand or mud , these plates won't get you out therefore its not a must have items specially in this region

One thing that the tracks COULD be useful for here is driving over a downed barbed-wire fence....
It happens rarely, but I,ve experienced a time or two when they'd've been useful for that kind of thing.
I,m still note tempted to shell out for em, tho.

I've seen a picture of the max trax ones online but not sure what the AOR sand plates/tracks are like. I did once see in Ramy (presumably where AOR is coming from) some rolled up rubber tracks in a green canvas holder - didnt pay much attention but I remember seeing the same thing in Carrefour's 'offroad' shelf soon after for less money. I've also heard of AOR branded compressors marked up at twice the price of an identical [unbranded] item found elsewhere.
not sure if that's helpful but an observation

Hi Khalid
Thanks for your input
The Maxtrax are purposefully designed with studs that the tyres can bit onto as opposed to normal sand plates or the roll up Carrefour types which if tyres tend to just slip against rather than engage.
The Australian Wheel winch is a good idea however I'm certain that 'Sod Law' will dictate that if you fit the winch to the front of your car then you'll have need it on the rear, and vice-versa.
So this is my new plan:
