Hi guys
I definitely need to change Xazu's tyres, and soon. With the BFG on the back and the Dunlop AT22s on the front she drives like a bus in the sand!
A couple of people have recommended Michelin tyres to me, but which ones, A/T (quieter on road?) or M/S (better offroad capability?).
Will try and source in Al Ain but if we can't get a good price, any recommended tyre shops in Mussafah?
Thanks
MB
Michelin A/T or M/S

Marina.
The best place to get a set of new or even slightly used tires in in Sharjah just down the road from Sahara Center.
I suggest you short list a few tires that interest you, check on prices here in AUH and then do a trip to this place in Sharjah and see the difference and the range.
There are like twenty huge tire ships there and they will give you a super deal...will even buy your old tires.....you need to bargain on the rates quoted. Typically you will be able to beat the price quoted down by 25 %.
The last time I was there I was offered a set five of Cooper ATR's for my FJ for AED 1,800....they were hardly used.
If you need help on this let me know.
BFG's are sold by AFM and I can get you a bit of a discount on them too.
I would suggest you stick with the BFG as they let you deflate to real low pressures and their stiff side walls keep you from popping the tire.
The Michelins are good tires too but you will have repeated pop outs if you deflate them to anything less than 12 PSI.
Moreover a new set of BFG's will last you for more than 60,000 KM so they are great value for money too.

Michelin AT if you like to drive on the road mostly M they are very quiet.. But your driving style I think you have to consider Wa advice coz your almost offroad than on the road my Cooper still looks good at 60k but thinking of retiring it for Bf Goodrich

Agree with what is sadi above. Go with AT seen as you do a lot of road driving Marina. BFG or Pirelli Scorpions I would suggest. Andy had the Pirelli's on his Pathy and swore by them.
Sharjah is a good spot if you don't mind the travel.
Good luck!

LOL Tony ...those Scorpions from Andy's ride have been on Marina's FJ since the time he left so I can safely say she is aware of how they perform.tintin wrote:Agree with what is sadi above. Hi guys
was desperate for tyres - using AT22s on the front and BFGs on the back was NOT working! (Xazu driving like a bus, too much power and push on the rear, and she was loathe to come out of 4wd into 2wd). So we got a very cheap second hand set of michelin ltx m/s this morning, (before I read your posts!) jsut been out on the sand with them and happy with their perfomance. Would have bought the ATs if we could have foudn them in Al Ain! Thanks for the opinions guys, this time next year we will buy another set of the ATs
