Sounds like a front axle re-build, all suspension bushings, and engine/tranny mounts: done all of those before on a.... yes, 1993 YJ! LOOOOOL Is it white and Renegade model by any chance?

Prolly better to swap out the coils and springs and shocks while at it (2" lift? Ah, I see, you mean shackles in the rear and pucks in front? And you kept the stock coils and leafs, right?)

Stereo? Out into the parts bin - you can't hear anything but wind noise in a YJ!!!! LOL

Let me find a pic of my old YJ... ---- ah, man! Great memories with my old YJ!!!

Hi PR, I'm glad I got your creative juices flowing!

It's a red renegade with black cladding, bumpers and grill. Very cool looking rig. I found some pictures pasted below.

It's leaf springs front and back, but the shackles are stock length. The previous owner put a Rancho add a leaf kit on it but never replaced the bushings. Technically it has the stock leafs just with an additional leaf in there for the lift.

True about the stereo. I was going to add a sub, amp and additional speakers for a bit of oomph but never got around to it.

I also have a spare set of ball joints fot the front axle. I don't think they need replacing, but with them being 21 years old, it may be a good idea also.

What I've done myself so far is the following:

water pump changed
fan clutch changed
thermostat changed
thermostat housing de-scaled/polished
radiator welded/sealed
rear drive shaft u joints changed (3 pieces)
full tune up done recently (oil, all filters, plugs, wires, cap, rotor)
fuel pump changed
New bikini kit installed
rollbar padding removed to respray. 1/4 done
front carpets removed for floor bedliner, not done yet
upper radiator pipe changed
window washer reservoir sealed/repaired
Front winscreen and weather strip replaced
New battery
new starter motor
New serpintine belt
Back seat replaced
rear bulbs replaced and wiring gremlin fixed

That's all I can think of for the time being. As you can see I've taken as much care of it as I could, btu since starting my new job I've had no free time to work on it so it's just being used as a daily driver now.

That's a nice YJ! 8)

Careful the Renegade has a limited slip in the rear diff, which needs a special additive, and which previous owners never use (they just don't know about it) and so the LSD clutch pack will prolly need replacing, and after that you can put that proper additive in. Basically, it's just a set of flat discs with ridges that bite when pressed together and rotated - they wear out without that additive. The problem is that the alignment of the ring and pinion is very hard to get right when replacing the LSD... you need colored dye, and if it's aligned wrong the teeth don't match up perfectly and you start getting noises and pretty soon it eats up the gears. Any noises from the rear diff? Especially when turning slowly and starting off in 1st?

Here's what the little bottle looks like: (maybe the previous owners have been using it, and it's fine)

Hello mate, thanks. No rear end noises and no chirping/squeeling rear tires. As far as I know, all services were done with the Jeep workshop but I've not had receipts.

Also, I just remembered that the transfer case was rebuilt about 6,000 KM's ago and the front pads replaced as well as the entire rear brake system (drums, shoes, springs, fluids). Clutch is in good condition and gears are very smooth for a 21 year old transmission.

Also, the front hood cover has been removed as it was too loose. No lights either as they kept complaining in Murooooooooooooooooooooooooooor!!! :D

Wow! Full service history at the Jeep dealer!!! That's awesome, mate! Yes, at the dealer they would have used the additive, so no need worry about that!

That's real rare to have a YJ so well taken care of 8) especially after all the parts you personally replaced - in fact, doesn't sound like you need me at all! You're doing much better than I could LOOOL

What exactly can I help with?

Ha ha, like I said mate, as far as I know it's been done there. I was told this by the previous owner (who we all trust here) but he was also a third party to the equation when I bought it so it could be false info.

Thanks mate, you know I love my projects as much as you; I just don't have the time to do them any more. I'm in need of somebody I trust to take their time, look after my baby for a while and put the love into it which I know it deserves. I also don't have space to work on it any more as I'm in an apartment with no covered/underground parking and don't work at the Embasys any more so don't have access to their maintenance yard!

OK, I see. You have another car as daily driver?

Also, over summer I don't have a shaded parking spot - I do for working on the car (I just move mine out) but I'd have to leave it covered in the sun over summer when I'm away on vacation. We'd have to cover it with a tarp and give it a good wash when I come back.

What's your summer plans? If you're staying then maybe it's better you keep it parked, as you can use the car, instead of it parked dead in front of my place. If you're also traveling this summer and then prolly at my place is better as safer and just on the sand beside my gate, and not on public roadside.

I do yes, I've got a Mitsubishi Galant for the family. Need somethign with AC for the summer!

That's no problem with leaving it covered in the sun. It sits outside most of the time anyway, just with a dust cover over the cab. I leave on July 4th until the end of July so I'm fine with it being taken to your place whenever you're ready.

Let me know how you want to work it and we'll sort it out.

OK, here's the deal, tintin:

I will provide the labor with best intentions and no guarantees or liabilities (1.) at no cost but also without paying anything from my pocket (2.)
You will provide the parts and any required tools (3.)

(1.) Although well-intentioned, the home mechanic does not entertain any responsibility or liability for any and all damage to the vehicle, including stolen property, fire, inability to repair, including any other kind of damage, whether accidental or intentional, as well as from natural causes. If the car is not removed from the property promptly upon request, it will be towed to a suitable public parking area and abandoned.

(2.) The home mechanic shall bear no costs of any kind, and any and all expenses shall be borne solely by the car owner.

(3.) While the home mechanic will use the tools at his disposal, the car owner is responsible for providing special tools or required tools and covering all costs involved; also, the car owner shall bear responsibility as well as all the costs of the required spare parts, including fluids and consumables and any other equipment as requested by the home mechanic for the purpose of completing the job. The part list shall be provided ahead of time and delivered in full at the same time as the vehicle. A cash amount subject to mutual agreement shall be left for incidental costs and balanced at end of project by collection of the trade invoices.
