PR Looking for Project

Fri May 30, 2014 11:03 am

Who has an old, broken-down, crappy, half-destroyed 4x4 and would like to:

1. sell it to me so I can fix and modify it, turning it into a fun desert vehicle

OR

2. keep the ownership but let me work on it to fix and modify it, turning it into a fun desert vehicle (I run the project, you pay for parts and all costs, my time is free so no labor cost, and at the end you keep the car)

Will consider cars, motorcycles, quads, buggies, whatever - no donkeys, sorry... ;)

Basically, I enjoy fixing stuff 8)

If you have an old beast gathering dust in your garage, let's talk!

P.S. and if not 4x4, let's see - I've fixed a Toyota MR2, Honda Civic hatch with B16A engine, and a Ford Mustang for buddies in the past, so I'd consider that, too. Note that my motivation is not financial. I won't make 1 dirham, but also won't lose 1 dirham.

I have Jeep cherokee 98 model, bought last year December 13. Went thrice for offroad and unfortunately came back by recovery all the time and every time have new issues. Jeep was running fine on road.Spent just double to recover car for offroad but not worked. Finally computer was gone last month and car was suppose to go to scrap but they dint accepted. I sent for repairing purpose to sharjah and sort starting problem now. Its running perfect on road but not supporting on ofroad and meanwhile i bought TJ and kept cherokee for sale purpose.I m getting just price which is thrice less than what i expand for that. I got few interested buyer but they wanted to test drive in desert. But i am scared if i go for offroad drive than i have to come by recovery with new issues. Pls advise me.

Interested in a 93 YJ? For sale though, not to repair and return? It needs the front passanger side axle shaft u-joint replacing and possibly the engine and transmission mounts and would also need either the suspension bushings, or the entire suspension replacing depending on how you felt.

4.0, 5 speed manual, spiderwebshade trialcage bikini, 31" BFG's with a spare set of 31" Deestone Mudcrawlers in the back, 2" rancho lift, just had a tune up, fuel pump and filter replaced, all rubber fuel lines, fuel tank cracks replaced. I've also started painting the rollcage matt black but haven't gotten too far with it yet. I think the stereo also needs replacing but it could just be a blown fuse.

I just don't have time to work on it anymore and it needs a new, caring home!

Hi Raghib, probably not a project I can help with, but just to understand better: the Cherokee runs perfect on road but it breaks down off-road? You mean the engine cuts out only when off-road?

My first guess is that it must be the extra vibrations on the electrics, so check all ground wires from engine.

"Computer was gone" can also be because of the ground wires. It's very often a problem in older cars. You see, every electric circuit must be grounded, and the way it's grounded in a car is to connect to the chassis metal. If there is some corrosion where the connection is, the electric circuit cannot close properly.

Yes, old YJ is a perfect project!

Sounds like a front axle re-build, all suspension bushings, and engine/tranny mounts: done all of those before on a.... yes, 1993 YJ! LOOOOOL Is it white and Renegade model by any chance?

Prolly better to swap out the coils and springs and shocks while at it (2" lift? Ah, I see, you mean shackles in the rear and pucks in front? And you kept the stock coils and leafs, right?)

Stereo? Out into the parts bin - you can't hear anything but wind noise in a YJ!!!! LOL

Let me find a pic of my old YJ... ---- ah, man! Great memories with my old YJ!!!
