Sunglasses for the Desert

Thu Sep 16, 2010 11:05 am

I'm the kind of guy who gets attached to his stuff - had my last pair of sunglasses for 10 years! They were great, and had so many adventures with them - you can see them in my avatar pic once I get it going.

Anyways, they broke, and I fixed them; they broke again, I fixed them again, until finally there could be no more fixing... so I began to search for a new pair.

Finding a model that was made 10 years ago was impossible, even on eBay, so I researched for a new model - the very best sunglasses for desert driving... and I think I found it so I wanted to share this info with you.

Cebe Cecchinel - a specialist mountaineering sunglass, made for people who hike up glaciers. They are UV Category 4 and basically cut out all glare: the desert looks amazingly beautiful with these glasses on, and you can see every detail!

They cost me 400, down from 820 8 )

A couple of choices in lens colours - I went for the brown lenses: they kill out the blue of the sky but make the red sand dunes REALLY look spectacular. The gray lenses made the blue vibrant (so good for boating) but muted the sand colour.

What sunglasses do you use, and would you recommend them for dune driving?

I am on the other side, PR. I either lose them or break them within 3 weeks of purchase. :( To make matters worse, I go for the finest which consequently cost a lot more.
I'll go and search for them Cebe's ...and the price is less than half of what I used to pay b'fore. Thanks again PR :)

I like my prescription Oakley's but when the sand is blowing and the top is off I use my Mx Goggles.
