Tyre Lifespan

Curious about the tyre lifespan here in this part of the world...has anybody knows how many K is the tyre life of a off road tyre?

Depends on what you get, how you drive, the pressures you run at, how often you get a balance and alignment. Generally though I think you will be looking at around 30-50,000KM for MT's, maybe more for AT's!
Proper tire care will make them last a lot longer than if not looked after. What pressure do you run them at? I run mine at 30 as the side walls are very strong and teh max is 50psi so no need to go too high!

Edmund....The life of the tyre always depends on the make and quality of the tyre....BFG TA on my FJ will last for a minimum of 50K but the original Dunlops that cam on it wore out in 30K so as youc an see there is a vast difference.

It is mainly due to the type of rubber compound used in the tyres.

General rule of the thumb would be three years or 40,000 KM I guess

Ye Edmund,

depends on the car, tyre make,maintenance of them, and especially the driver + driving style!!

For example - The life span of the rear tires on my sister C63 AMG is around 12 - 15k. Yes, believe it or not!! I have to change the back tires 2 times a year and the front tires once a year. Again as you can see, The car, tire type, and especially driver determine the lifespan of you're tires. You can probably guess how rough my sisters driving style is LOOOL

Saleh,

Generally the tyres are supposed to be rotated (front tyres to the back and the back to the front) every 10,000km, this will even out the wear on the tyres. And it is advisable to change all 4 tyres at the same time.
If required, you can rotate the tyres of the C63 every 5000km.

tried its no point!! My sister has too much of a heavy foot!! she hasnt learned to smoothly accelerate. believe me when i say she utilizes the 450hp of that pepsi can of a car at almost every green light. looooool The main problem is all that power goes through the back wheels as it is a rear wheel drive car.

As for the sister with the heavy right foot, next tyre change go to a wider tyre - even an extra 20mm will make a dramatic difference in traction and so she will not only find it hard to burn rubber, but her cornering will be safer, too. (gas consumption will increase a bit, though)

I drive a Honda Jazz (yes, also modified slightly 8) and just changing tyres from the stock economy ones to a wider Yokohama, from 175 to 195mm, and the tyres were no longer to weakest link when cornering fast: the driver's seat is! LOOOL I need to move to bucket seats now...
