My office is just off of Electra......

There is a white Hummer H3 with a offroaders sticker parked on one of the side roads along with a yellow TJ I guess its not you but I would love to know who owns it though.

Hope to run into you and give you a sticker for your ride so you can get rid of the other one

Rust underneath body

Wed Feb 22, 2017 10:56 am

Hi all,

I know this is an old thread but I have a question regarding underbody rust.

I tool my 2012 Patrol Safari in for servicing at Nissan and had my underbody inspected. It turns out there's quite a lot of rust and Nissan advised me to get rust proofing done.

I can see from the thread you all seem to agree there's no need to get rust proofing, but are you all saying this on the basis that you don't have rust under your body to start with? or do I not need to worry about my rust? The rust looks quite excessive to me but it might just be surface rust and nothing to worry about?

What do you think?

Here are some photos attached.

Dear
I only notice the rust is only on the exhaust , i dont think you can apply rust proof on the exhaust ( may be poor quality of age ) but under body of your car looks fine to me

Hi Ahmed,

Thanks so much for spending the time to look at this :)

i spent the the whole day yesterday trawling through google and YouTube and came to the same conclusion as well. I think I'll just get the car back from servicing and inspect it myself. Upon talking to Nissan it sounded like they would only rust proof the body underside and not the exhaust pipe so sounds quite pointless to me. Maybe the body is more damaged than I imagine. I'll find out when I pick up the car later this evening :) :)

thanks for your second opinion!!!

eisuke
