SWB Nissan Partol is another name for a Two door Nissan Patrol hard to get one at a good price.

If you want to get an FJ I suggest you go to AFM and check on the new 2010 Spec car. It has a bit more pep than the 2009 and they will give you a good deal with reasonable financing.

You will not regret this move .

And BTW I have two boys 11 and 6 and they have no issues with climbing into the back seat of my FJ. You are spoiling your kid .... sitting over the steering is Ok when the car is parked but on the move he belongs in the back seat with the belts on. Both my kids will clim in and belt up without being told to do so.

 No way my 20 Month boy is sitting over steering in moving car. But its a push to place him in back seat with his mother. He loves me u see ;)
I think Patrol SWB is Manual gear. When I got my "automatic" driving license I never thought I will off road in Manual one day. If that is the case then I am left with FJ only.

ya dear amit, Nissan SWB is hard to find. i had to wait 3 month to receive my car. but why you are going for the full loaded swb you can go for the 2ed option or the 3ed option (full manual). more over if you are not looking for extreme you can go for hammer h3 nice big capable for offroading and city drive

I was in this seat for a long time and finally ended it about 7 weeks ago. I wanted to replace my LWB rented Prado with a SWB for the sand and mountain crawling. My short list was SWB Prado - great motor and drive train and sweet on fuel but too small wheel wells, SWB Badrol great motor and drivetrain, big wheel wells but a fuel whore and the Wrangler, its a Jeep. I do not like Misubitshi but do not forget to look at the SWB Pajero which performs well too with and without bumpers.

After 6 months of looking I learned that it is difficult to find either of the two Japanese badged vehicles in the used market. The good Badrol's are rare and snapped up quickly and the rest if you can find them are suspicous due to owner abuse. Found a few SWB Prado's mostly 2.7L but only one with the 4.0L in it and it was cost prohibitive only 15k from current new prices at two years of age so not worth it. The market forced me to go with Jeep, which by the way is really Canadian made only final assembly occurs stateside (one of our favorite jabs to the "By American" clowns). Your Exploder is ~mostly Mitsubishi parts assembled in Mexico if I remember correctly, plus Ford = Found On Road Dead. :D Sorry never liked Ford. Just remember one thing the brand name is not always indicative the place of origin. Nissan Xterra was designed in Lajolla, Ca and is built in Smyrna, Tn, it is a near pure American vehicle but people call it a Japanese car and I believe the Pathy is one the same line still is also.

The Nissan Xterra is relatively new to the market here, I owned a 2000 model stateside and it is a very good all weather vehicle offroad and has a good following there. I say all weather because I use to do Emergency Managment and Communications with it during hurricane season in Florida and nasty winter stuff in New Hampshire. There are now tons of mod's available in North America. Look for the "Offroad" Model where you get an extra inch of ground clearance. The Pathy also performs well even though the recent models are more soccor mom-ish (Prado has that problem now) and it has a longer wheel base.

The FJ, it is LWB, does very well in the right hands, hence it being called the Fake Jeep, but to me it is the only car out there that makes the Edzell sexy. I only wish Toyota would have held true to their efforts to bring back the classic FJ, the FJ40 and FJ45, now that is sexy! I would drop cash on one in a heart beat!

One more factor:
With the season now in full swing, 4x4's especially SWB command higher than normal prices and are difficult to locate. During summer, prices tend to be down and cars are easily found.

Thanks Nasser and Eric....I agree with you. I am still confused and will take it easy before deciding anything (Not like my Ford decision) ;)

Currently FJ tops my list with Badrol LWB following it closely (Cant have SWB as I have to get manual driving licence).

I will wait and watch a bit and see if my Ford surprises me to pass this season on high note.

Amit - If your not concerned too much about the wheel base do not leave the Jeep JK Unlimited off your list, I know you want to avoid Jeep but cost can be a major driver. Take the time and visit the dealerships and collect information. When you go to club outings ask to take a ride in whats available, most people will be more the happy to let you experience their ride from either seat me thinks. I am more than willing to let you test drive my JK just don't grind too "much" grain with her. :D (its a stick shift)

Side note - I did not know that the Drivers license here could be restricted to transmission type. Just looked at mine and it just says "Light Vehicle". Learn something new everyday - life is good. :o

Hi Eric..... :D I will not beat your JK to death for sure....unless he/she misbehaves :D ... And yes I am looking to grind other cars too in our upcoming trips ;)
I remember when going for my license they told me that if I want license for Manual gear then its a long wait. On my license, its mentioned on the left side "Automatic Gear"
