The Terra with th eOff Road pack has these front coil overs from Bilestein which gives it roughly a half to 3/4 inch lift. The tires on the standard and the Off Road version are same size but I think the brands are different.

The suspension is alos sait to be a bit stiffer than the standard model

Still leaves on the back, but the bilstein shocks all round - it is balanced whatever they've done. The off-road package is only an extra 4k.

I got my off-road model with a category III tow hitch for less than 115k ... that's pretty damn good value for money.

You know, with tow hitch option we can probably guess they added a heavy-duty leaf on the rear (because the rear takes the trailer's weight), and so that would also explain how they managed the lift. One way to tell could be to just count how many leafs on the non-offroad package vs yours.

Because, from their assembly and cost-containment perspective, adding an extra leaf is much better than sourcing all-new leafs specific to that option.

EDIT: well, doesn't seem so from Nissan USA specs... http://www.nissanusa.com/suvs/xterra/versions-specs - only difference is shocks. And no mention of lift, either?

Actually, price is another really important factor to consider - how do the three models compare in that regard?

The lift is there but I'm not entirely sure where it comes from at the rear.

In terms of price points, the Xterra certainly seems to be the cheapest of them all. As it's the most 'civilised' and practical of the three, it makes for the best utility vehicle or day-car.

There is an extra leaf in the stack at the back to get the ride height equated, I was looking to buy one in 2010 and did a lot of research on the XTerra.

Like I said the only things that didn't go down well with me were the leaf springs on the rear and the four speed auto box with coils all around being the norm and a minimum of five cogs in the box !

good to know, thanks for sharing Wasif - this is a good thread, with deep info. That's one of the valuable things about a forum like UAEoffroaders: so much sharing of knowledge 8) and with knowledge you can make good decisions.

The guy who started the thread sure got a valuable set of answers!

Now he'll go buy an old Land Cruiser or Patrol and be happy! LOOO
