Hi guys,
so I have put a deposit down on a mid range jf, smokey blue, it will be 4-6 week delivery. I'm still torn between manual and auto however.
wasif recommended I stick with auto, better for dubai streets and re-sale. My off road skills are not great but they will always improve.
has anyone had experience with both and which would you recommended. The only thing missing from the manual that I want is the outside dials, can this be installed?
thanks
jonny

It may give you some helpful general input regarding manual vs. auto.
As for the 'outside dials,' I,ll leave that to the experts. Ya totally lost me on that one!

Myself, I don,t much consider resale. Maybe I,m too selfish.
You just have to add up your pros and cons and see where you end up!
Looking forward to seeing which camp you end up in, Jonny.
Driving a manual in stop-n-go traffic is a pain; no denying that.Jonny wrote:Haha, so manual. I would love a manual. But I'm just wondering about driving in Dubai on the roads and the resale.

for the FJ... the manual transmission has no added advantage other than the headache of depressing a clutch.

In the FJ you can use the auto box as you would a manual in the sand with the added advantage of not having to press a clutch pedal.
The 6 speed manual is suited for long distance driving and not something I would want living in the UAE.
And BTW what are these "outside dials" you mentioned.

I have auto FJ 08 and somebody offered me FJ 2007 American specification Manual transmission at 45000 !!!
I really got confused .. but I think it's good offer ( what do you think).
I might go with it if it is in good condition and we'll maintained and will get another car for daily use
