Welcome to the Club Ozimandius

That's a cool rig you have there. Big T has said it all, nothing more to add except make sure that the vehicle is fitted with Recovery Points, front and rear. I just bought a 2001 XJ and I am surprised that there are no recovery points, so I had to install them.

Look forward to seeing you out there soon.

Just to add to what tintin said, if the central lock also didnt work then it is an electrical fault not specifically related to the engine - you should check the battery connections first to see if there is power coming from there.

The best thing is to get a multimeter (for all offroaders, just add it to your kit) - they look like this http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&s ... =&gs_rfai= and work like this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multimeter and you can get a cheap one for AED 15 from Carrefour. A digital one is better if you don't mind paying a little more.

With this multimeter you can measure electricity and it can quickly help you find the problem - simply put the black onto the negative battery post (-), and the red onto the positive (+) and you should see at least 12V... now you know the battery is ok. Then test any circuit (starter, alternator, dash, ignition, etc., etc.) in a similar way until you find where there's no current.

This tool is cheap and very useful also to learn how the electrical system of your car works - here's an article that exlains how to use it: http://autospeed.com/cms/title_Using-a- ... ticle.html

Grand Cherokee is a great car! 8)

The ever intelligent PR. How are you mate. That is a great little explanaition regaring electrical systems and such.
This is some great info that all may benefit from. I have a multimeter in the ZJ, and a home brew voltage checker (two wires and a bulb :p )
Good luck with the problems mate, hope you get it sorted soon.

Just remember Wasif is the only who is nuts...the rest of us are just Abby Normal, which would make us normal when gathered all together. :smiley2: Your ride will do nicely. Just remember, options are just more things to break. :smiley10:
