Hi friends
Greetings!
My name is Sam. I work and live in dubai. However will be shifting residence to Al Ain in March as my wife got a job in al Ain.
I would like to be a part of UAE offroaders and learn the art of offroading early next year once we shift to Al Ain.
Right now, i am planning to buy a 4X4 .I would like your feedback on what would be a good vehicle ( model & grade) for offroading and also that i can drive daily ( al Ain -- Dubai).
Few models i am considering are:
Xterra - new one
Prado 4.0L TXL - second hand
Grand Cherokee -second hand
Land cruiser - second hand
Pajero 3.8L -second hand
Awaiting your valuable feedback..
Thanks
Sam

Hi Sam,
I'm a happy Xterra owner. So far there hasn't been a problem with not being able to join a trip with UAE Offroaders due to the vehicle choice, but to each his own
If you go for that option, ask the dealerships about previous year models: I was worried about buying a second hand vehicle because of the abuse I see of such vehicles. But the Abu Dhabi Nissan dealership had brand new 2012 model Xterras in stock as late as May 2014. So I got a "year old" car with no previous owners - and a discount to match. It was of course a joy explaining this to insurance companies.

Hi Anton & Kamil
Thanks for your feedback.
I am awaiting a test drive on xterra , grand cherokee laredo. These two along with prado 4.0L make my final list.
- Are all the three vehicles equally good for offroading.
- while prado and grand cherokee looks suited for long distance commuting on a daily basis , how good is x terra for daily "al ain - dubai" drive.
Thanks
Sam

Cross out the Grand Cherokee and try the Toyota FJ instead.
DO you need to necessarily lift new xterra

Hi all
If i go for a new offroad version Xterra, is it fully capable for offroading without any modifications. Do one need to basically lift the vehicle for better clearance. If one does it, will it affect the warranty.
Thanks

I have an Xterra Off Road which I recently lifted, but that was only after almost 2 years and due to some pretty serious driving. Other than watching the nose on descents, the off road version is more than capable of learning in.
