my advice to you all is if you want k&n filters or similar then you are out of luck they are seen very easily, for those who can fit snorkles I would do it and leave stock air system in place, better to modify the internals of your engine than externals (within reason) there is no way to prove anything if they cant see it.
Install a catback system just change the muffler to a quiter one, the borlar I had was very loud I just changed the muffler to a V8 landcruiser muffler and the police left me alone.

All the clubs in the UAE have to collectively band together and lobby for recognition of our hobby never has there been more of a need for an OFFROADING ASSOCIATION than now.

Take Nissan for example your car has a 2 inch lift mine does not, there are difference in the way the springs are installed into our respective cars, as you know the difficulty we had with registration and in the end they forced me to mod the car to pass by using corolla springs to lower it bloody stupid.

Lets all go to egypt, there is no law there currently

Just to connect to earlier posts - EMSF card can only help if you actually have a registered rally car, with which you are allowed to drive to and from races. See a guy called Emil Khneisser, who competes regularly in the Desert Challenge, who drives a fully custom-built buggy (including tube chassis, amazing work, runs a Chevy Avalanche engine!) and it is road legal as a rally vehicle 8) with number plates and all.... same for other rally cars. I'm not sure what category they are, but they can be registered if you are a legit racer (hence the need for EMSF card, and now prolly an ATC card - Auto Touring Club).

JC makes an excellent point - a formal Offroading Association can help clarify what mods are sensible and actual improvements in safety and should be allowed for 4x4, and which mods are instead dangerous and should be targeted by Police (sorry, street ricers, form your own association! LOL) Do note however that federal associations are very political and not easy at all to keep control of - even at the level of Emirates Motor Sport Federation (EMSF) and Automobile and Touring Club of UAE (ATCUAE) it's challenging to manage a large and public association. I'll volunteer as Vice-President

The rule will definitely be interpreted in different ways, since the UAE traffic laws state that NO modification of any kind is allowed. The enforcement of this wide rule is purposely left to the interpretation of the people involved so that it can become strict when necessary and also soft when required. Its time all the clubs got together and formed a federation so they can present a unified front to teh government and get the required concessions for offroaders !

What makes me laugh is that now we can complain and tell them that this law then must be implemented also on the ferraris, lamborghinin's, mercedes,............ Otherwise no one will accept it and it will cause a huge headache for the police

The exhaust on these supercars is always loud from the factory so they just cant do anything about it !!!!

And where is the difference in enjoying the hobby if Offroaders have to use a stock exhaust?? Sure a nice sound is much better but thus it change the enjoyment of Driving in the Dessert? I guess not so why a association is needed??
