Wanted to share with you guys one of the mods for my last project, Rhino, a 1990 Range Rover Classic: a custom full-length expedition roof rack! Cost around AED 380 total!

Had a Sanaiya welder join the tubes according to my specs, then finished it off myself - unique, proud to have made it, and it goes to show you too can build up your 4x4 project without spending a fortune:

Yeah, it was quite heavy - but not as much as I had expected and easily lifted up over their heads by two people to put it up.

My objective for Rhino's roof rack was to sleep up there and to stand on it to take photos from a different viewpoint, so weight was not much of a consideration for me. It was not going to be a dune-climbing machine project, but a desert comfort-mobile 8)

I had 3 narrow beams up front at the centre, and then 2 outer highbeams pointing outwards a bit, and then 2 more low beams from an old Jaguar pointing far out, so the light spectrum was awesome - about 120-140 degrees spread wide. As you prolly know, in the sands at night, lighting up the sides to find your way over is even more important than lighting up front.

Then I had the seats covered in Rasta colours 8-) and upgraded the sound system. Changed to heavy-duty Police spec springs at the rear to cope with heavy loads and the suspension was absolutely awesome, better than any car I've driven, including most 2010 models.

Very cool mate, always good to have a custom, self made/designed item on the rig!
