What's your set-up for GPS and mapping?

On mac, I use Garmin Basecamp to link up with Garmin 276c GPS device, which then displays saved waypoints and tracks straight into Google Earth 8)

To convert various GPS data formats I use GPSbabel+ (for example, create a track on Google Earth in .kml or .kmz and then convert to .gpx which opens in Basecamp and then uploads straight into GPS device)

There's also PC versions, and both are free.

I switched from Mapsource to Basecamp just recently. I use a Garmin 60C as I can use it for hiking as well. Also have a Garmin E Trax Vistra HCx as a back up unit and that I take on holidays with me. I am also into Geocaching and both my units are great to use in and about the city while on foot.

So what is the major difference between base camp and mapsource? I am using mapsource at the minute with the Middle East road and city maps on there and downloaded basecamp but ain't had a chance to look at it properly yet? Will I still get the street maps I have on Mapsource with Base camp, and if so, will there be any major difference in use?

I use both mapsource and basecamp without ME maps as I use the programs as an interface between Google Earth and my GPS. I find working with waypoints just easier in Basecamp
