Having twice had to struggle to try remove the front windshield from rolled cars to help get the people out (no fire, no drama, just people still dazed from the rolls LOL), I carry this small crowbar in my car's door pocket:

I've always got a screwdriver close by in the door pocket - a short sharp blow with it to the corner of a window should do the trick ..... apparently....

Thanks PR,, Bear Grylls had A great show called Man vs. Wild,, I didn't know about that show "Worst Case Scenario", But it looks good.

And for me I don't like to keep any sharp thing in the door pocket, I don't want it to fly left and right in case of any accident or flip over.

I have a good selection of heavy tools in the back of the bulldog, all locked down in a storage box I built from and old Ikea desk shelving unit.
Hammers, screw drivers, tire irons, spanners, ratchets and all inbetween.
To save teh persons face if they are in a position that may make the glass hit them, it is always a good idea to tape the window and smash it that way. this will hold the glass and make it easier to peel away as oppose to popping it all over the trapped persons body!

Yes, good point - for our kinds of rolls (not at speed, but downhill, which actually are very safe rolls - compared to rolling off the highway at 100+ kph!) the injuries are usually from things flying around inside the car. Buddies who have experienced rolls have all said it's like being inside a washing machine and everything that's inside the car and not secured just churns around with you. Ah, assuming you have your safety belt on! Without a seat belt injuries are of course much more likely and serious.

Also the car mat is good to help keep the broken glass off your face. One more note on that, the glass breaks into little cubes, so it's not like sharp shards.

why was it necessary to remove the front window? is it becos of the electric window situation? wont your tool fly around in your car if you had a similar experience?

In the two rolls I've attended, and stories of other rolls, the car came to rest on its side. Also, the weight of the car on the roof caused the A-pillars to collapse, cracking the windshield. The driver and passenger were in shock, covered in sand and one was inured to her shoulder (collarbone, we found out later). So the front windshield was the easiest way out, already cracked into lots of squares, and also the widest way out for the injured passenger. I suppose the side window would be fine as well if the car had come to rest on its roof, or tyres down and doors jammed.

As for my "escape" tool, I guess it could come loose and fly around the cab, but it's a deep door pocket and it fits pretty tightly in there as it's wrapped in a cloth so I felt ok with its location. I'll have a good look at it now that you mention it and if necessary I'll zip-tie it down - thanks.

Best roll I've heard of was a buddy who managed 7 complete rolls LOL ending on his tyres at the bottom of the dune, and he drove out!!! He was unhurt.

Worst roll was head-over-heels in a Wrangler, when you crest too fast and land on the front bumper, and then wham! straight onto the roof - nasty stuff...

That's one of the many benefits of a LWB vehicle. Less likely to do a forward flip down a dune! Nice shots though!

That "almost" roll also happened to Fredoz once in his Wrangler ....apart from Phantom who has made an art out of this stunt
