Hi Guys

I need to replace the fan clutch on my 2005 Jeep Liberty. I need the spanner mentioned in the title to do the job. I was wondering if anybody might know where I could get one rf if you would know of a replacement tool. I was thinking of a 36mm spanner but thought I would see if anyone in the club has some info regarding this.

Its a simple job after I remove the fan assembly from the water pump pulley but need to get this tool or something similar first.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have a 36mm impact ratchet head on a half inch drive if you wanna try that? I also have a large assortment of other tools which you are free to borrow if you like?
Only problem is, they are in AUH with me. Let me know what you think?

You can use some big vice grips and a big enough ratchet/spanner. No need for fancy tools really.

I did think of the vice grip, I checked & that tool is just to keep the fan clutch from spinning while using some sort of spanner to loosen the nut from the pulley connected to the water pump. That tool just makes it easier & reduces time spent. It is said to take 30 min with that tool to complete whole job. Jeep is charging 400dhs to fit it which is just ridiculous if u ask me. They say they need two hours to do the job. I took it to them to find the problem & they said it was the tension pulley that needs to be replaced. I disagreed with them & after sometime they came back & confirmed that I was right in suggesting that it might be the fan clutch.

After all that they still want to charge me 2hrs for a 30min job. Professional thieves sometimes if u ask me.
Anyway, I will be buying the part later today & will have a try in getting it fitted tomorrow.

That tool looks like it's used to stop something turning, like a fan - you can rig up something similar.

I am going to use a screwdriver between two bolts to keep it from turning.

would you not be able to use the key spanner for a big grinder/cutting wheel? Looks like the same size.

Just thought I would let u know that fan clutch is in. All it took was a normal 36mm spanner and a few taps with a hammer. No need for the special tool.
