Garmin maps update (free ideally)

Does anyone have experience or knowledge of how to update maps on a Garmin nuvi? Having bought it only last year, I am not tempted to fork out another 400AED on maps so have downloaded MENA city navigator - what next? help please .....

Pain in the rear end the price of an upgrade for the maps. Have you registered your Garmin on your name on their web site. I got 1 free map upgrade with my nuvi 2 years ago when I purchased it.

However, I run routeable free maps on my Montana (http://garmin.openstreetmap.nl/) Not as good as the Garmin ones but not bad either

Go to their website and firstly regester your device. The purchase the lifetime update. It costed me AED 600 a year back and you will get two updates a year for the life of the device.

Its cheaper than buying individual updates
