Great thread Bo Ali - all you really need to know about the Hi lift.

Regarding using the Hi lift as a winch - kits are available from ARB, but you also need to buy a length of wire rope and attach hooks to the end of it. We've got one, once your exams are finished and Neil is back on the mainland I am sure he would be delighted to show you how it works in practise. It's not a patch on a full car mounted winch but it is a useful item to have if you are going out with just two or three cars as it gives you another recovery option. Even though Xazu now has a winch fitted, we'll be keeping our Hi Lift kit, just in case I have to be pulled out backwards when leading. It takes a while to set up though, so it's not an easy option.
