UAE Speed Cams - POI file for Garmin

I have loaded a file on my Garmin GPS that has most of the fixed speed cam locations listed. It loads these as POI (points of interest) on your Garmin and then a proximity alert is configured for each of them.

The GPS will beep and shows a warning on the screen whenever you come within 100 meters of a speed cam so you can slow down.

This helps save a lot of money that otherwiase would be with the authorities right now.

If anyone is intereestd I can share the file and instructions on how to load it on your Garmin device.

Let me know

Wasif bhai,

Proximity of 100 meters is not enough especially when one is coming in at speeds of over 120 kph....
Also, most of these fixed cameras are there as scarecrows.....they are not equipped with cameras.

I strongly suggest that you remain within the speed limits, and they are generously on the high side.

LOL...show me one "scarecrow" camera in Abu Dhabi. In the Abu Dhabi Emirate all fixed cams are operational.

Now in Dubai though some half of the cams on SZR are "scarecrow" cams !

I too drive within the tolerance level but its handly to be informed when you are approaching a cam so in case you are travelling a bit above teh tolerance level you can slow down.

Does this include the new cameras on the Al Ain - Dubai road? When we went up there on friday there appeared to be at least a 50% increase in the number of installed cameras.

Sorry guys got a bit tied up yesterday .....will post it today evening.

Richard. This file is from 2011 so it may not have cameras added after that. I will post up the 2012 file when it comes around.

Once you load the file on your GPS keep track of the cameras it beeps at and those it doesnt and let me know.

It even beeps at cross roads where they have cameras to catch you if you jump the red light.
