Well, well, well - bought a new (1996) Jeep Cherokee! 8)

The factory specs include:

GCC specs with 300W fan and heavy-duty radiator plus factory-tinted windows and windshield, and "Deluxe Insulation Group",

"Up-Country Package" suspension which is heavy-duty with gas shocks and 1" lift (stock from factory 8),

front/rear tow hooks,

upgraded alternator with 117W output (regular is 80W)

skid plates for front suspension, transfer case and fuel tank,

part-time 4x4, with fully-locked central diff (called Command-trac)

and most importantly a beautiful rear Trac-Lok limited slip differential and manual gears!

Nice one mate. That looks like it has been taken care of real well. I like the colour too, not many that colour around from what I've seen.
You can tell the springs are the stock ones though. The rear is about an inch lower than the front looking at the first picture. Either way, looks like a fun project. :D

Thanks mate. Stock but the "Up-Country" stock package which should mean heavy-duty and 1" higher than regular stock ones... if not, I'll be changing them :)

LOOL I'm ready :)

Actually, with my old YJ Wrangler, I had a great Jeep experience - tough and reliable, and oh so much fun! We'll see if Cheeky does the same... so far, engine pulls great! And everything works good. I'll be changing shocks and adding a little lift, prolly replacing motor and tranny mounts, now seeing if the front axle seals are still good - I think, though, as with any older car, if you do the work yourself, it just is part of the game, and I enjoy that side of things too, so I'm not particularly worried: the car is in excellent condition to start with, and that helps 8)

If you can track down an inlet manifold, throttle body and injectors from a 1999-2004 WJ 4L that is supposed to give a welcome power boost a lower revs due to the better airflow in the later manifold.

To make that really work to it's full potential, Rich, you'd need a Hesco adjustable fuel pressure regulator too. It's not necessary, but gives it the best push for a "cheap" engine mod. Not exactly a cheap combo, but something on my to do list for the next year!

And a supercharger and for good measures a bottle or two of NOS...for those times a burst of power is required !
