How to open a Knot on an ARB Snatch Strap

Guys.

Need some help here.

On the last trip, that Al Ain Airshow trip, I found myself to be the official recovery car amongst other very interesting things !!

Not sure how or when but thereis a knot in the middle of my snatch strap. This happened while pulling someone out so you can imagine how firm it has become.

The question is how can this be opened up as its going to break teh strap if I use it with the knot.

Constructive suggessions are sought !

did you try to push a pin inside the knot??? it might help

Try soaking the knotted area over night in warm water, then when it is thouroughly soaked it should be easier to untie.

Or get two pairs of needle nose pliers and force them into the knot and wiggle them till it starts to come loose.

That is so not nice Ali after all it was knotted probably when i pulled you out of a few sticky situations you managed to land yourself in !!

We might as well meet over a coiuple of beverages of your choice and try the "needle pliers"

This was discussed in length on another forum I belong to. What it basically came down to is that:

If you are unable to remove the knot without damaging the weave or breaking thread then its best that the snatch strap be discarded


I wish you luck in trying to undo the knot.

My best advice is to soak the strap ( knot area) is a solution of soap and water then hit the knot with a rubber mallet ( not hard enough to damage the strap but to try soften the knot) when try seperate with 2 pairs of pliers.

If you carry on using the strap with the knot the strap will eventually shear at the knot. So on the safe side. Bite the bullet and splash the cash and buy a new strap

Thanks for the tips all of ya.

I am gonna have a competition and all aof you are qualified to enter and whoever can undo this knot will be the lucky winner of a evening trip to Stills on Yas Island. The trip also gets you free pick up and drop off as you might not be in a position to get back on your own.

The proper tool to use is called a Splice. You will need to use two of them to loosen the binding of the knot. I would advice against using pliers as the teeth will damage the straps fibers. If you can not get the knot out run down to Mina and find an old salty B'osun and have him show you how.
