Hello,
my Jeep Wrangler YJ needs new seats in the front, does anyone know where I could get them re-holstered/foam replaced? I'm based in Abu Dhabi but willing to travel.

Hi alva, there are many shops in mussafah that can redo the chairs for you. But one thing to br careful with that the cost can reflect the quality sometimes, There is one area i can recommend to go have a look at is the embroidery shops behind the small police station at the beginning of mussafah near lifeline hospital.

Let me know how you get on, Alva, my YJ needs the same. Have you done a google search to see which seats are a direct swap, my ber cheaper to buy two from a scrap yard?

I have had a look, but most seats are from cars nearly 10 years old or old mustangs. I'm going to have a look in Mussafah and see what they can do. I've also have been looking on Dubizzle as there have been the odd racing car seat for sale as racing car seats will, as you know, make my Jeep even faster.

Of course they will, and they will also turn a rubber brick into steel reinforced concrete!

I think maybe a trip to Sharjah might be in order unless you can find an old Sunfire or something along those lines. Worth checking out non-American models too though. I read somewhere that Honda Civic seats from older models fit quite well with little modification.

Just an update about the seats..After spending two hours walking around Mussafah during the early afternoon sun, dripping in sweat (not a good look), I measured up a few seats, Mazda seats looked to roughly fit as well as Honda Accord's. I manage to find an Accord with no front end at the most two years old and bought the seats. I will need to make a bracket (well the garage I'm taking it to will) as the seat frame is 2.5cm each side bigger then the YJ's seat base.

Anyway, I've made up a paper template and it is looking good. My wife and work mates think I'm mad, but I like a challenge. I'll let you know how I get on, it might all go wrong and I'll end up having a couple of new seats for the flat.

They were 400aed for the pair. I also found a couple of seats from a Mazda (a few years older) for 300aed. If it wasn't so hot I would have kept looking, but I'm happy with what I got. The Jeep is now in the garage so fingers crossed I got the measurements correct.

I had a look at the seats (just to make sure they had put them in okay), they look great. They welded them in rather than bolting, which isn't what I wanted but I won't be changing the seats any time soon. They are a little higher than the old seats under the steering wheel, but it's not a problem. Next project is to give then a good clean and give the frame a spot of black paint. All in all a great find and the wife will hopefully be a little happier on the newer seats.
