4x4 Recovery

We all have had a good chuckle about poor Wasif and his knot in his snatch strap, But lets review quickly as snatching is something we all do almost every trip and to be quite honest can be dangerous as well.
While most of the cars in the group are modified and have decent recovery points we have new members trying sand driving for the first time who only have factory fitted or no recovery points at all.
While snatch straps can snap, Recovery points too can also shear with the force that occurs in a recovery.
Below is a paraghraph from an Australian newspaper:
"3/10/2009 4:09:00 PM
An 18-year-old Smithton man has been killed in a freak accident at Temma on Tasmania's West Coast.Tasmania police said that the accident occured near Sandy Cape Road at 3am.
Police said that the dead man was a backseat passenger in a vehicle which was trying to tow a bogged vehicle out of sand.
The towing assembly of the towed vehicle came loose and the tow ball and snatch strap then smashed through the windsreen striking him in the head and causing fatal head injuries.
It is unclear at this stage whether the car was being towed out backwards and whether the tow bar crashed through the front or back window.
A helicopter rescue was cancelled once Smithton paramedics reached the scene and could not revive the man."
There are a great deal of websites with advice & procedures for snatch recoveries but they all basically say the same.
