As far as I know, what the 2008 has over the 2007 are: engine immobilizer, revised stronger rear diff gear, revised inner fenders, side sun visors.
Don't think this matters to you, but the 2007 model featured optional side airbags - they were made standard for '08.
Optional for 2008 is the Off-Road package that includes Bilstein gas shocks, BF Goodrich Rugged Trail tires on 16-in alloy wheels and a rear differential lock.
It's a bit pricier, but for me the best option would be 2012 model, the first six transmission manual gear available in UAE.

Hi There is no difference between the 2007and 2008 FJ's. The first change, the dual VVTI setup was made in 2010, 2012 saw new 17" rims, manual option and other cosmetic changes.
Get a GCC Spec FJ as the US Spec comes with a thinner radiator core and it tends to overheat here.
The only real difference between 07 and 08 US and GCC spec cars is the 17" rims on the US version and the thinner radiator core. Also the speedo will be in miles on the US version.
Mechanically there is no difference
Don't get any FJ below 2010 as the chassis flex will rip the fenders with your kind of driving, they cured it in the 2010 with a stiffer chassis.
The manual is not recommended, the gear ratios are not evenly spaced and driving a six speed manual in city will be quiet a chore

Hi Kalemero,
How can you import the 2007 model. That will be over 6 years and currently one is allowed to import only less than 5 years.
