Thanks all.
I'm currently researching for a suitable off-road vehicle.
My options and concern are:
1) Jeep Wrangler
2) Nissan Patrol Safari 2doors(although tough to find).
Concerns:
- Brand new v/s Used.
- Model year / Mileage.
Any other suggestions:
Thank you for your inputs

Hi, Nigel -
Well, you are asking the #1 question of all offroaders, and you have settled on two of the top 3 choices (the other popular contender being the FJ).
There are always lots of used cars on the market, but of course the trick is getting a good one. If you find a good possibility, have it checked out by a trusted mechanic. This is the start of the new season, so it,s a seller,s market, I,m afraid. You will pay more for a used car NOW than you would in May or June, when lots of expats tend to leave the country and need to sell their cars quickly. And also I guess you have to wonder why someone would sell their offroading car at the start of the season. Check it out carefully.
One other question you must consider is whether you prefer manual or automatic transmission. The pros and cons of each have been discussed at length in this forum; check the general 4x4 threads if you,re interested. (I think that,s where you,ll find it.)
Anyway, welcome to the club, and we look forward to seeing you on a trip soon. Best of luck in your search!

Welcome to the gang Nigel.
Funny things is I have been away from the gang for a while now but am just around the corner from being back in the sand pit.
Interesting you say your are Nigel from Bombay as I have a friend there also called Nigel who is crazy about vintage BMW bikes.
Hope to see ya all soon.
The Greyhound is having its paws fixed and shall be seen tearing around the dunes shortly !

Thanks for answering my question.
Where would be the best place to start looking for used cars in Dubai?.
Recently, I looked at the latest 2014 model (Sport version) selling for a good price at the dealership. Would Budget be the only reason in buying a brand new car?.
Thanks once again.
