Beware

Tue Sep 27, 2011 6:10 pm

Guys and Gasl
Beware once venturing into Liwa area as Drilling of Gas wells liwa is in full swing and the gas produced is very Toxic.
in case of Gas leakthere will be warning sirens to warn you but small quantity are leaking and tends to stay at lower/ditch area as this gas is heavier than Air.
Keep an eye for any Drilling rigs and drive up wind and avoid down wind just avoid drive near by.
Keep an eye for Warning signs and keep distance.
It will take only 10ppm (Parts per million to knock ou out) The gas could be 100000 or more ppm in the area so keep away.
The Gas smell like a roten Egg. once hit you you will loose sense of smell, That is where you will sucumb to the killer gas.

Many have died recently and definately we dot want to loose you.

Happy driving but BEWARE.

Woooooooow, thanx for the heads up guys, people please take care, this gas attacks by killing your sense of smell, so coz u cant smell it u think u r Ok. u r not, the gas is still there and will slowly kill u.

10ppm - smells like rotten egg with eye irritation
50ppm - leads to eye damage (it mixes with fluids in the eye to make sulfuric acid)
100ppm - kills the sense of smell (if u dont smell it and ur eyes r watering...get out of there fast!!!)
The one and only FOONDER!
Show love to the environment, treat it with respect!

Nice - could be worth hanging a canary in a cage off the old fishing rod to provide a prior warning system like they used to do down the pit in the old days?

Thanks for infor Maximus. that is very true that they are always drilling holes and exploration wells in that area all the time. People need to be carefull.

It is very cool though when you see them bring out the mammoth Thumper trucks when doing seismic testing.
Thumper Truck = Huge hammer like Gun!! Muwhaha

a couple of years ago, they were doing seismic testing quite near to the main road towards Bida Zayed (liwa road) and i actually sat waiting for them to do a hit with the thumper (1 whole hour) but alas nothing. wanted to see how strong the vibrations would be.

That thumper looks like a lot of fun. Wonder how those tires would hold up on the bulldog?!? :D
