Thanks a lot to all of you for your help.

I decided to not wait for another car and I bought the grand Cherokee V8 seen last week.

I have checked radiator and engine, no leak no smoke. I hope no bad surprise will come.

There is no bash plate under the engine, and I don t know below the transmission and tank. Is it easy and cheep to install?

I am really excited to be part of trip very soon.

Skid plates/bash plates are easy to install if you can get hold of them. The front one (under the radiator) is held on with 4 bolts (15mm) and the transmissiion/transfer case plate is attached with 3 bolts (also 15mm). As for the fuel tank skid plate on my Grand Cherokee, I'm not sure how that's attached.

If you know a good garage not to far, I will go for some check up and small modif if need be.
