It's tarmac all the way up to the pass, then it's a hard-packed and well-maintained track, wide enough for one car with places where you pull to the side to let any traffic going the other way pass by you. All other drivers were very cautious and respectful, and again the Omani people caught my admiration.
It does get very steep in places, so I went down to 4LO to keep the vehicle's speed under careful control. There are also places where there is a steep drop on the side, but the track is very well maintained and rock solid, so just keep calm and aim straight. There were no slipping or traction issues.
Tell you the truth, I'd do it in a sedan LOL
Wouldn't want to do it after recent rains, and certainly not during rain!
