Desert Shoes

Mon May 30, 2011 10:26 am

Hello,

I have a strange question but could not find the right answer.
I always drive with closed shoes, but the soles are getting hot when walking in the sand.
I have noticed that a lot of you are wearing these short 'adventure' boots.
Please could someone let me know some brand or some shop in Abu Dhabi wher I can get the RIGHT boots for the HOT desert...

Many thanks in advance
Regards

Guido.

You can get the UAE Army type ankle high boots from a company on Muroor Road called Technical Scissors. Its just after the first red light when you come off teh muroor road flyover heading towards Dubai.

The other alternative is hiking boots from Timberland or better still Jack Wolfskin in Wahda mall. I have teh Jack Wolfskin ones and they are very comfortable and dont get hot.

I started off wearing some regular good-quality hiking boots, but those boots are simply not engineered to withstand the heat of the sand here: the soles started to separate from the rest of the shoe (I guess the glue was melting). I went to Tech Scissors and got some desert army boots, and have been very happy with those ever since. I recommend getting boots that can stand the heat in this kitchen!
