Hello! Haha I'll still bring lots of food... assuming I can get these tow points fitted! I'm just in Mussaffah and have tried lots of different garages and auto parts shops, none of which seem to supply or know the kind of thing pr posted that I should look for! A couple of them have said I can fit a much larger point with some sort of 'u clamp', for around 1000 dhs. Apparently I can't have a tow point in front, only a winch...
Is this right?!
Did anyone know anywhere that can be trusted/knows what they're doing?
Thanks!

But I,ll have to leave further recommendations to those who live near you, sorry.
Unless you want to come to Al Ain to get your recovery-points mounted....
This is definitely NOT true, Joe!meerkatdrummer wrote:Apparently I can't have a tow point in front, only a winch...

Hey Denasor!
Thanks for the reply!
I thought it sounded ridiculous given all the advice I've had on here... I spent a good 4 hours in Mussaffah today on a bit of a wild goose chase trying to find something similar to the photo PR send in his last post- the closest someone came up with was MUCH bigger than that, and also I imagine a quite a few dirhams more.
Obviously I'm happy to spend whatever it costs in order to get the proper equipment required for the trips/general off-roading, but I'd rather not be sold something way over the top if it's totally unnecessary for my situation!
Also, as a note on PR's post- I can see lots of bolt holes in the chassis, but not two close together as described. On the front, the two that are closest together are different sizes, with one about twice as large as the other, but they're about 2 inches apart.
On the back, I'm afraid I didn't really know where to look as the spare wheel is completely in the way.
Luckily Wasif has been kind enough to invite me over tomorrow to have a look and analyse the situation- thanks Wasif!! I hope all becomes clear then!
But I still have the issue of finding these mystical tow points that don't seem to exist in Mussaffah!
If this is something I can find/get sorted in Al Ain, I'm totally up for it!

OK, here's another route - as well as going to see Wasif. Find an online forum where there are lots of Pathfinders and ask/read what they do for recovery points.
Like these, for instance: http://www.thenissanpath.com/ or http://www.nissanpathfinders.com
Here's a bolt-in tow point on ebay: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/BOSS4-TOW-PO ... 0839345526
Look out for "mechanics" who are more interested in ripping you off than fixing your car... thing is, they are experts at sniffing out a newcomer, they can spot you the moment you step out of your car.

Hey everyone!
Well there's my first newbie error- thank you so much Wasif for having a look today!
For some reason I thought they would be in the centre on the front/rear... I didn't even think to look at the sides, how foolish!
Currently in Mussaffah again getting the air con compressor replace.
Also Wasif- I've just been to arb to get those items you mentioned, so I'm all set for Friday now!
By the way thanks for those links PR! I'm sure they'll come in handy at some point for me!
Also, I'm sure I stand out as being a prime target for ripping off at the moment- hopefully that won't last long the more I educate myself!
See you all soon I hope!
Joe
P.s. Wasif I believe I'm sat right next to your car as I type, very nice it is too!

Cool, glad you found them in the end without having somebody rip you off! Thankfully nobody went into your rig and started pretending to fix things on that were already there!
Also, really sorry I never replied to your sms the other day, I've had an absolutely manic week so far and have had no time to think.

Dear Joe,
On going through my pathfinder's manual I learnt that among the two front recovery points that are pre-installed, only the one one the right side, i.e. on the side of co-passenger, is designed to be used to pull out a stuck vehicle. The other one (left) is not strong enough and is meant only to be used to tie down the vehicle etc, e.g. during transporting the vehicle on a truck. I suggest that you go through the manual as well to be sure and safe.
Cheers!
Alok
