Paris to New York Jeep Trip

Jeeps on Paris - New York trip, after "crossing through nearly 18 countries and tracking over 17,000 miles thus far," have had to postpone "due to extreme snowstorms and numerous mechanical failures in Siberia."

This is not the typical "its a jeep thing" WA. every trans-Siberia crossing is a royal SOB. There have been several documentaries and all of them have had to halt at one time or another due to mechanical failure. Even the Mog's have issues due to the brutal nature of the track. I want to see you get a group of FJ's and do it. You can call your trip "WA eats his words".

LOL...there was an FJ expedition that did thsi route and it was a piece of cake for them...let me locate teh link ...and we''ll see who eats whose words Mr. Loudmouth

And if you could read the article you would see that the only mechanical failure mentioned was with the hub of the support equipment trailer. Nothing found yet about the JK being the problem. Unfortunately i am not seeing any kind of daily report of the trip either...

Yes, there's a lot more to the story than meets the eye. They were also powered by renewable energy... bio-fuel?

AND.... in 2010 they went back and tried again, reaching the very end of Russia (but not the Paris - New York jeep trip 8)

Here's the website of the dude himself: http://www.ee-mj.com/about.html (Matthias Jeschke) He has done several incredible off-road expeditions, even the world record for the highest altitude - in 2005 with a land Cruiser, and in 2007 he beat that with a climb to 6646 meters aboard a stock Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon!

Some great stuff but man I wish he would put out more details! Probably have to buy the video...humm...idea.... I would love to do something like this but I will have to stick to exploring Laos on my dirt bike.
