Geocaching is a great outdoor activity for the whole family. I have been actively geocaching now for over a year and have logged over 650 finds in 5 different countries.

Check out http://www.geocaching.com.

Had a good read of this yesterday. Well written and I'm glad you're encouraging people, and especially those in Al Ain, to get into this very easily accessible area. Now that the southern part of the road has been re-tarmaced you can so easily get deep into the dune areas. You shouldn't have shied away from the track that continues from the end of the tarmac. It's a pretty straightforward drive, with the occasional drifting sand across the track and, of course, you can call in at the Qasar Al Sarab for a coffee and to wash the sand off your face in the five star loo.

It is an interesting game indeed .. Andre and Eric are very active members and famous in Abu Dhabi .. there are few ones in the desert that I need to discover in the coming days and will try to find Hakan and Ann's hide and will let u know Paolo. It can get really hard sometimes especially the ones with riddles but all in all the game takes you to nice places you've never knew about .. well it is not always nice!!! lol .. but it is always FUN!
Enjoy it.

My first find was called "On a wing and a prayer" a nice cache which I fully enjoyed with my kids and it was practically very close to our area :) The most difficult ones are those nanos placed by none other than the Avan Clan:smiley8:

The Avanclan's hides are super and are done in that challenging South African spirit. I always seem to learn a thing or two from their creative hides. Most of my hides are slowing disappearing as I can not replace them right now when they get disturbed. If not for geocaching I would not have enjoyed, loved and respected the UAE as much as I do now. Plus I would not be part of this great UAEOffroaders family if not for geocaching which made me seek out and discover the beauty and diversity of the Arabian deserts!
