Tires and fuel injector question.

Mon Mar 05, 2012 6:36 pm

Afternoon all,

I have to buy new tires for for my YJ, I currently have Bridgestone Dueler HT 31x10.5R15LT, but would like to buy some AT instead. Does anyone know a good place to buy them in Abu Dhabi or a good equivalent make? I have looked around the site for the answers but didn't have any luck.

Also I would like to have my fuel injectors cleaned so any ideas/pointers I would be most grateful.

Thanks very much!

Andy

for the tires try National tires in Musaffah or supercarz in musaffah. You could also try motor tech, search on here for their number and ask fro Phil or Yousuf. As for injector cleaning, run a full tank of high octane fuel through it with some of the STP full fuel system cleaner (the big silver one, about 45 dirhams) from ADNOC and it should run much smoother!

Which YJ do you have, I have a red 93 renegade 4.0 manual! :D

Oh yeah, welcome to the club

An upgrade for the Jeep 4L inline 6 cylinder engine is to fit injectors from certain Dodge/Chrysler cars. The upgraded ones have 4 spray holes, rather than 1, and are supposed to give better power and/or fuel consumption. There's a couple of looooooooooong threads about it on the Jeep forum at http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f13/defi ... w-1305456/ and http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f13/dodg ... a-1145336/

I've done the swap myself and can't say I've noticed a major difference but at least I know that the remanufactured injectors that I got from ebay.com are clean!

Thank you for the advice, I now have a new set of Pirelli Scorpion ATR from Supercarz which are currently on sale, they were 850aed each, now 650aed, plus I got a Off Roader discount!

Richard, I have been reading about that injector swap, but not sold on it just yet as I haven't read anyone who has found much of a difference. I did find Bosch in Musaffah can clean all six injectors for 360aed in two days or plus another 40aed for same day service. My Jeep is in for a service next week so will get them to look at the plugs (which were only changed about 15k ago), so if they are fine I'll send the injectors for a clean.

Tintin, I have a 1995 green body, brownie/beige top with stupid big wheel arches put on by the previous owner. I have still yet to take it out off roading as I work weekends when all the trips are going on. I have seen a red YJ with it's top off around Zyad Sports City on a Wednesday, is that you?

Sure is mate. I need a new starter motor at the minute, I think, but yeah I go Muay Thai training up there with Cobra Muay Thai Monday and Wednesday. I think I've seen you floating around too.
