Hi there all you sand lovers.

As we all know with the new rules in place we, or should I say I, needed to correct some modifications on my Jeep. I've been searching to get someone reliable to do the work for me, this proved to be a challenge to find someone to fix my catalytic converters. At the end of the day I found a garage online and submitted a query through their email service.

I was very impressed with the speed of response, the good advice and extra mile they went to, to assist me in my needs. I found them very helpful as they did some extra research for me and came up with the best solutions and recommendations. I took my vehicle in and they did the work fast and at a reasonable price.

You should have asked Hennie ....there are a few garages I would have suggested for you closer to home.

So you are almost stock now on the JK ?????? Remember to put in in four low when you are trying to take a flyover or you might not have sufficient power......and forget trips to Jebel Hafit!!!!!

Yes almost stock again, just need to put the old airintake back and I'll be ready. Can't remember how to put the car in 4 low, never had to use it before, next time please show me how you do it, I want to learn from the master. LOL

Serious: I was a bit worried about the power loss but was pleasantly surprized, it almost feels like its better now, even wife is driving the car around town again. (now you can hear the traffic again and not just the roarrrrrrrrrrr out the back)

When the catalytic converter packed up I took it to a garage here and they cut the converter out, so straight pipe, no converter. The engine light came on and stayed on due to the fact that the sensors did not work because the cat is gone. LOTS of noise, high fuel consumption, etc.

I also put a K&N Air intake in that I will take out again and go back to stock.

I have the same light can he remove it , i know that this come from that i have long pipe and every time i remove the light it will come after 3 days

Well, now that you're back to stock, it's done - but for other modifiers, when you remove the cat, the straight pipe you replace it with should have a place to screw in the O2 sensor. It's just a hole with a thread, and the sensor screws into it. That way you have no cat but the ECU is happy and no engine light.

What happens when you run without the sensor, as Hennie said, the ECU thinks there's a massive fault, since the reading is now zero, so it freaks out and sends the engine into emergency get-home mode, which runs rough and sucks lots of petrol and limits the power. The idea is that in case of a malfunction, instead of just breaking down at the side of the road you can stumble along to the dealer, where they will fix the issue $$$. I think it's actually called "limp" mode LOL

However, I agree with Hennie, and most modern engines get no or very little benefit from air intake and exhaust mods, because they are already designed for ultra-efficiency. Gone are the days you could pull off the air filter and muffler and pick up 10-15HP. Nowadays it's normally not worth it.
