Like I said the only things that didn't go down well with me were the leaf springs on the rear and the four speed auto box with coils all around being the norm and a minimum of five cogs in the box !

The auto is now a 5-speed, but the manual option doesn't appear to be sold here.

The biggest weakness for me is the bonnet design, although it's obviously due to pedestrian safety standards. It's quite high up and can sometimes make it difficult to see what you're approaching, and in very tight areas you might drop down a crest without even realising it's there.

The rear leaves are a moot point, as they have both advantages and disadvantages, but the lack of a manual option here is definitely a negative.

Check this postfrom Jeepforum.com started by one of our ex members. It basically says that there is no real GCC spec vehicles any more, apart from the customary Arabic text on the side mirrors. It used to relate to the type of fuel used (Leaded vs Unleaded) but now the latter has been fazed out.

From what I can remember from a conversation I had a long time ago on another forum, this is the case. Check with the dealerships though for the different specs and then ask the main office in the country of origin for a difference in part numbers or descriptions on alterations.
