Check out this link below.

For AED 600 Emirates driving Institute in Dubai is offering a one day desert driving cource. At the end of thsi you can get a Desert Driving License for AED 300.

Sounds interesting but since its in Dubai I will not be able to avail of this interesting offer.

If anyone is interested and signs up it would be nice to get a copy of the training manual !

I don't know if this course will give you the knowlege or the experience in the sand that you guys provided us, but it will be interesting.

Wasif, I also saw in the manual for the gulf news drive there are some interesting tips on driving, this could maybe be of use if we can post it for newbies to read before they venture out for the firts time, do you think we will be able to get their permission to post it?

this begs the question "What is a Desert Driving License?"
Under whose authority and for what aim or purpose?

Kind of like the adverts for the fictitious "International Driving License" which is nothing but useless. The proper article is called a "International Driving Permit" which is properly recognized by international treaty.

I think it's all a scam. I reckon Wasif is working in tandem with them to get extra money for his greyhound!

The target group for the license is clear:

Desert Driving License Requirements Original Passport, Passport Copy, License Copy (3 years old license), Two Photos, Visa from Dubai & Tourist Company, NOC from Sponsor, CID Letter, Eye Test Report, Age Above 25 years, Approval from RTA License Department

The rest I assume useless for most of the people in this forum...
