Hala Khalid,
no one answered your questions !!!
what do i have to consider when buying? >> car Condition in general, mechanical parts, check the car in garag with computer check ..
what are the problems? is it controlable? >> try to find 2001 model, the problems is countable .. you will spend maximum of 5000 AED for major Overall
spare parts?availability/price? >> Yes .. it is avaliable because Cherokee has a big market in sharjah .. also the ARMY still using these cars .. prices are acceptable ..
fuel consumption? if it is Automatic .. forget it .. the consumption is acceptable .. it is around 14 mile per gallon .. which means around 450 km per full tank ..
if purchased.... which modifications do i have to install/cost? .. wide tires ( 265 / 70 / 16 ) ... 8" wide rims ... air intake ... cat back ... lights .. all will cost you around 10000 maximum ..
thats what i have .. ASK Al Kurby for more information ..

The XJ (Cherokee) is a very capable offroader and lots of fun to drive with teh 4.0L engine and 2wd option on the transfer case. They are very simple 4x4's with little electrical assistance unlike FJ's, land cruiser and patrols. For upgrades, there is a HUGE market for the XJ and aftermarket parts available from the states, australia and even UAE from some shops.
Simple mods will be 2-3" lift kit, better rims and tires, exhaust is not a must but does help, upgrade the brakes as they are not great, they are OK but with bigger tires and more lift your braking will be affected.
Check ou tthis site for most of the stuff you will need www.ironrockoffroad.com . For the air intake I would not bother with the 4.0L engine as it cannot suck in more air than the stock intaker alread does. Maybe you can remove the flexible pipe and replace with a PVC or Aluminium pipe but otherwise you will need more space in the combustion chamber to really appreciate the air intake to its fullest. Unless you get headers, 3" cat, muffler and tail pipe then it will roar like a Lion when you hit the gas hard. If you do decide on the air intake check this one out. Dry filter so no clogging up with dust like the K&N does in the desert. http://www.aemintakes.com/search/produc ... =21-8315DC
Good luck, and keep us posted.

Hey Khaled,
You can do a proper desert modification for around 8-10,000 depending on what you buy. I have spent more than this but a lot of mine was repairs as the previous owner didn't take much care of the ZJ. Plus you will need to consider labour charges which can vary from 100-350 per hour depending on who you use to do the installation. Look forward to seeing another beast here. Good luck!
